چکیده

Subjects observed and then reproduced abstract, irregular stimulus models generated by the steady movement of a disk across two-dimensional paths. Each path comprised 3 to 7 randomly-oriented linear segments linked head-to-foot. Reproductions were expressed by moving a stylus over the surface of a graphics tablet while the disk was tracing its trajectory (Concurrent reproduction), or half a second after the disk had finished (Delayed reproduction). For both Concurrent and Delayed conditions, fidelity of reproduction fell with increasing number of linear segments in the model. Overall quality of reproduction did not differ between the two conditions. When a few models were repeated, interspersed among non-repeated ones, performance improved, but only when reproduction was delayed. This improvement was stimulus-selective, not a general improvement with practice. Additional experiments showed that memory for a seen model is well preserved for at least six seconds, and that imprecision in visual encoding significantly limits the quality of reproduction.

Influence of Natural Sources of Biologically Active Substances on Livestock and Poultry Reproduction

Synthetic hormones and bioactive substances (vitamins, pigments and isoflavons) which have been used in the feed industry are accumulated in milk, meat and eggs. It is suspected that these are responsible for a number of side-effects such as carcinogenesis, liver and kidney damage, allergies in consumers. Furthermore the synthetic hormones, vitamins, pigments are less active than those extracte...

Vitamin D Deficiency Impairs Spatial Learning in Adult Rats

Background: Through its membrane and intracellular receptors, vitamin D regulates many vital functions in the body including its well known actions on musculoskeletal system. Growing body of evidences demonstrate that vitamin D undergoes some of behavioral aspects of neurocognition. The present study was designed to evaluate the effect of food regimens without vitamin D or with a supplement of ...

 Structure Learning in Bayesian Networks Using Asexual Reproduction Optimization

A new structure learning approach for Bayesian networks (BNs) based on asexual reproduction optimization (ARO) is proposed in this letter. ARO can be essentially considered as an evolutionary based algorithm that mathematically models the budding mechanism of asexual reproduction. In ARO, a parent produces a bud through a reproduction operator; thereafter the parent and its bud compete to survi...

Reproduction of Synthetic 2-d Actions

Subjects observed and then tried to reproduce abstract, irregular stimulus models generated by a disc’s steady movement over a quasi-random, two dimensional path. Each stimulus path comprised 3 to 7 linear segments, randomly-oriented and linked head-to-foot. Reproductions were expressed by moving a stylus over the surface of a graphics tablet, either while the disk was still tracing its traject...
